Meet David Stern
David has helped hundreds of small- and mid-sized firms manage their finances more effectively. His passion for this work began with a job at a salvage yard that bought and sold building materials. There, he learned that a business can turn a profit and do meaningful work, the basis for his career ever since.
He focused on the construction industry because, he says, “he's always had a great deal of respect for the skilled trades. He likes the tangible product that they make.”
Today, as a fractional CFO, he concentrates specifically on specialty trade contractors across the country. Clients are typically in the $3 to $30 million revenue range, both commercial and residential, union and non-union: electrical, plumbing, HVAC/mechanical, concrete masonry, landscaping and more.
He is a Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP®) with more than 20 years of experience working with businesses to improve their financial performance, processes and personnel. He lives with his wife in Berkeley, CA, plays guitar in a bluegrass band, and practices Iyengar yoga.
